Learn To Play - Cross Ice
The Griffins Learn-To-Play Hockey program is one of the top learn-to-play hockey programs in Grand Rapids area and is the foundation our development model. It is designed for the first-time player providing a fun and engaging environment that is focused on skill development.

Ages
Appropriate for players at least 4 years old, and ideally for those who have completed at least one year of a Learn-to-Skate program.
When
Saturday mornings and Sundays afternoons from late September through late February. Exact dates and times will be listed on the registration page.
This program is 23 weeks long.
Where
Practices and games will be at Patterson Ice Center located at 2550 Patterson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
Equipment
Proper equipment is mandatory for all skaters. New for this 2024-2025 Season, all skater must have a neck guard. See an interactive guide for all other equipment:

Practices and Games
Each session will be divided into small groups with several stations where the coaches will be working on specific skills. The small groups usually are kept to a maximum of 8 skaters. Each group rotates to all of the small stations on the ice during their 60 minutes of instruction.
Games will be cross ice to encourage more puck touches.
2024-2025
The Griffins Learn-To-Play (LTP) Hockey program is primarily for players ages 4 through 10 and ideally for those who have completed one year of a Learn-To-Skate (LTS) program. The core mission of the program is player development. The season begins September 21, 2024 and will run through February 23, 2025.
All players must have a current USA Hockey number at registration.
